This position combines brand development, graphic design, structural packaging, and retail presentation, with a strong focus on creating packaging that stands out on shelf while remaining functional, manufacturable, and commercially viable.

  • Create cohesive packaging systems that establish a recognizable and differentiated presence across an entire product line.
  • Develop unique and innovative package structures and shapes that enhance the product experience and create strong shelf presence.
  • Design retail merchandising solutions including PDQs, counter displays, and floor display.
  • Create production-ready artwork, dielines, packaging specifications, and presentation materials.
  • Develop prototypes, mockups, renderings, and physical samples for internal reviews, retailer presentations, and licensor approvals.
  • Work closely with manufacturers and vendors to refine structural concepts, troubleshoot production challenges, and ensure design intent is maintained through manufacturing.
  • Evaluate materials, finishes, printing processes, and structural techniques to create premium and differentiated packaging experiences.
  • Review production samples, proofs, engineering samples, and final packaging to ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency.
  • Stay current with packaging, branding, retail, toy, collectible, and consumer product design trends and identify opportunities to bring new ideas to the business.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional packaging, brand, graphic, or industrial design experience, preferably within toys, collectibles, consumer products, entertainment, or licensed merchandise.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating packaging design, brand development, structural innovation, and retail merchandising.
  • Proven ability to develop a visual identity and translate it into a cohesive packaging system.
  • Strong understanding of packaging construction, materials, manufacturing processes, and production constraints.
  • Ability to think strategically about how packaging functions both individually and as part of a larger product line.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to confidently present concepts and articulate design rationale.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Experience creating 3D packaging renderings, mockups, prototypes, and presentation materials.
  • Strong understanding of paperboard, corrugate, plastics, vacuum forming, PET/PVC, EVA, molded pulp, rigid boxes, and specialty substrates.
  • Ability to create clear, accurate, production-ready packaging files and documentation.
